NEW KIDS REUNION: BLOCK HEADS UNITE!
Submitted by Mary Beth on Tue, 2008-09-30 16:34.
This past weekend I had the opportunity attend maybe thee greatest pop concert of all time. Three friends and myself were able to attend the sold out, hometown performance from the newly reunited Joey, Jordan, Jon, Danny and Donnie, aka New Kids on the Block!!!
I had no expectations going in, because I knew I would have fun no matter, but NKOTB really delivered. The group was perfectly coordinated; singing was on point (even those falsetto notes from before their voices changed), choreography was tight and the guys looked HOT.
My friends and I arrived to the TD Bank North Garden to a sea of women in their finest New Kids gear; the amount of vintage and homemade t-shirts was astounding. We of course were included in the t-shirt madness, each making and wearing shirts that included the world "girl" in the title (see my "Please Don't Go Girl" v-neck below). You could sense the anticipation of the audience as the music playing on the Garden’s sound system revved us all up, eagerly waiting what would happen on stage.
And then it did happen. The lights went out and the crowd started to scream. On a big screen behind the stage a video presentation started..."15 years ago...they walked away...tonight...IT'S TIME" and the first flash of an image of Joey McIntyre from back in the day appeared and the crowd went nuts again. The first chords of "Single" the newest song from their comeback album The Block began to play and it we knew it was happening. The reunion that so many girls and a city had waited for so long was about to begin!
The Kids, or should I say men, played a high energy set for no less than 90 minutes. Reunion concerts are always a big of a crapshoot but the group gave the crowd what they wanted. After "Single" they immediately launched into "Right Stuff" and continued to play every single hit from "I'll Be Loving You Forever" to the mega popular "Step By Step". They played new songs such as "Summertime" and "Dirty Mind" but didn't skimp out on the nostalgia; Joey rocked his smiley face jacket from the "Hangin' Tough" video and they incorporated some of their old dance moves (you know you remember the swinging legs with hands on the belt buckle!).
NKOTB put on a show and we showed them we were thankful-with non-stop screaming!
I won't lie; I'm totally a nerd for this band. I jumped up and down, I screamed, I sang along at full volume and I absolutely swooned.
I could go on and on, but I'll wrap this up with a clip from Vh1, who were filming live from Sunday night's concert. The boys from Beantown are back and in fine form and the giddy girl inside of me thanks you for a wicked awesome time! NKOTB 4 EVA!
THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK MEET SOME NEW OLD FANS

Danny, Donnie, Joey, Jordan and Jon all took to the red carpet at club Marquee to celebrate the release of their new album, The Block. The boys are preparing for their national tour, their first in over 15 years!
Surrounded by a sea of adoring female fans, the group schmoozed, boozed and took pictures. Click through the gallery and check out the faces on the fans as they meet the new kids; they all seem to be giggling, like they've been waiting for this moment for this all of their lives!

New Kids on the Block and r&b superstar Ne-Yo have collaborated on a single, coincidentally named "Single." The song will be available on iTunes on Aug. 12, and will also be available on New Kids full-length album, coincidentally named The Block, which will be released on Sept. 2.
Screw waiting though, I know you want to hear it right now! People.com has an exclusive snippet of the song here, check it out!
p.s. you can be my boyfriend Joey McIntyre, for more than just one song!
MUCHO HOTTIES AT THE MUCHMUSIC AWARDS
Submitted by Mary Beth on Mon, 2008-06-16 12:02.Canada must be doing something right to get so many hot people all gathered together under one roof. Chace Crawford and Brody Jenner were just among the many presenters who handed out awards at the 2008 MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto over the weekend. Rihanna was hot/creatively attired as she performed and took home a trophy for "Please Don't Stop the Music". MTV reality stars Whitney Port and Kristin Cavallari who normally look great were also on hand in some atrocious dresses, I was not impressed. My favorite throw back hotties, New Kids on the Block were glad all in white, like the angels they are, even opening up the show! I'm so glad to know that New Kids are getting some practice in, so by the time I see them in September their stage show will be perfected!
SPORTS: CELEBS BRING STAR POWER TO THE NBA FINALS
Submitted by Mary Beth on Wed, 2008-06-11 15:04.Basketball is soooo retro lately. Celts v. Lakers, how 80s! Unfortunately the stars did not dress accordingly and showed up in clothes of the millennium. Seriously, wouldn't sports be way more interesting if there were costumes to go with it? I would have LOVED to see someone rock an emerald green, satin Celtics jacket or maybe some purple and yellow Zubaz. Alas, no one listens to my good ideas, so let's talk about who showed up.
The Lakers won the game 87-81 after being cheered on by all their celebrity (fair weather) fans. Fergie, Toby Maguire and Kristin Davis (yeah, I'm sure she's a hardcore Lakers fanatic) all came out to the game as well as Jon Voight and son James Haven; I guess sports can heal even the deepest of familial wounds! Thankfully there were some Boston fans there, none other than New Kids, Joey McIntyre and Donnie Wahlberg. BEAT L.A.!
T.G.I. NKOTB
Submitted by Mary Beth on Fri, 2008-06-06 16:22.There were two things I thought I'd never see in my life time. The first dream realized was back in 2006 when I received the jubilant news that Beverly Hills 90210 was finally being released on dvd; my life has not been the same sense. The second being the miracle of all miracles is finally forthcoming; New Kids on the Block are reuniting, touring and releasing a new album!!! My friends and I have wished and prayed about this event for years, often having round table discussions as to why it hadn't happened yet. "I heard Donnie won't do it, he wants to focus on his acting...although Jordan and Joey totally would." "Jon has stage fright and can't preform." "Danny doesn't care about New Kids any more." Whatever, no one likes Danny anyways. Well, sweet day, they apparently put all their differences aside (money is a great unifier) to make the unthinkable happen.
Their tour kicks off soon (yours truly will be seeing them in September) and they are about to release the video for their new single Summertime. You can take a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the vid on People.com. For now, enjoy this lil nugget I found on youtube. NKOTB perform a medley of their hits at the 1990 American Music Awards!
p.s. Donnie, can I borrow your jacket? So. Hot.
ZOOTOPIA BRINGS OUT THE ANIMAL IN MILEY!
Submitted by Mary Beth on Mon, 2008-05-19 13:01.It's officially music fest season! Z100 hosted their annual Zootopia concert at the IZOD Center (Do you think their is a Lacoste Center some where? You can only get in if you are wearing a polo shirt.) in New Jersey over the weekend and the place was packed full of pop fans both old and new as the waited to see everyone from Miley (who will return to Nashville to film the Hannah Montana movie) to the newly reunited New Kids on the Block (who will continue on to tour through the fall!). Joining the fanfare were "rockers" Simple Plan, popsters Danity Kane and the Jonas Brothers who fall somewhere in between.
FROM BOYS TO MEN

...the New Kids are back!! Yes, they might be looking a little older, have a few more worry lines and they've fathered a few kids, but Donnie, Jordan, Joey, Danny and Jonathan are here and mean business. The one-time teens who made the girls swoon hit up NYC where they announced their comeback tour. And you'd better hurry, tickets are selling fast.
They're Back! (Maybe)

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK ARE REUNITING!!!! Maybe. And I am on a emotional rollercoaster. People.com first reported on Saturday that a reputable source claimed the boys from Boston were getting back together. However, yesterday Danny Wood (the one nobody liked) made a statement on his MySpace page refuting the claim "I wanted to address the rumors of the NKOTB Reunion Tour. There has been no talk of this and you are getting it from source directly. Never say never, and you can't believe everything you read."
